Youth Protection Training

True youth protection can be achieved only through the focused commitment of everyone in Scouting. It is the mission of Youth Protection volunteers and professionals to work within the Boy Scouts of America to maintain a culture of Youth Protection awareness and safety at the national, territory, area, council, district, and unit levels.

Den Leader Training

Den Leaders and Assistant Den Leaders must take the course called “Den Leader Position-Specific Training.”  This course is much more extensive than Youth Protection Training and can take several hours to complete online.

To take the Den Leader Position-Specific Training course, click this link to go to my.scouting.org and follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your account (You should have already completed Youth Protection Training and thus should already have an account.)
  2. Click the “My Training” button on the dashboard
  3. Click the “Cub Scouting” labeled icon under the Training Courses by Program panel
  4. Select the course option labeled “Cub Scout Den Leader & Assistant”

Pack Committee Member Training

Pack Committee Members must take the course “Pack Committee Position-Specific Training.” This course is much more extensive than Youth Protection Training and can take several hours to complete online.

Note: If completing both this course and “Den Leader Position-Specific Training,” there is significant overlap in a number of the modules that will not need to be duplicated, thus saving significant time if completing both courses.

To take the Pack Committee Position-Specific Training course, click this link to go to my.scouting.org and follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your account (You should have already completed Youth Protection Training and thus should already have an account.)
  2. Click the “My Training” button on the dashboard
  3. Click the “Cub Scouting” labeled icon under the Training Courses by Program panel
  4. Select the applicable course option labeled below:
    • “Cubmaster & Assistant”
    • “Pack Committee Chair“
    • “Pack Committee Member“
